Independent Investigations and Evaluations of Officer-Involved Critical Incidents

Critical incidents are an inherent facet of police work. These incidents, more often than not, are unavoidable.

Following the "reasonable officer test" parameters we have designed, we look at the totality of the incident's circumstances and compare how a reasonable police officer, with similar training and experience and under similar circumstances, would have acted. We will review the officer's body-worn camera (if used) and reports and speak with the officers involved. The video will not be made available to the public by us.

We then provide a confidential, comprehensive, and data-driven report of our findings to determine any other courses of action that could have been taken and hypothesize the results of those actions.
